Deputy Andrew Kriss
End of Watch: May 25, 1864
San Diego Sheriff's Department

Deputy Kriss was shot and killed by horse thieves. The suspects were never apprehended.

Deputy Will Ward
End of Watch: November 27, 1899
San Diego Sheriff's Department

Deputy Ward succumbed to wounds sustained when he was beaten by a prisoner he was transporting to San Quentin on the Steamship Santa Rosa.

Deputy Thomas A. Fay
End of Watch: May 17, 1919
San Diego Sheriff's Department

Deputy Fay was shot and killed while arresting a neighbor who had been arguing with his wife. The man went in to retrieve his hat and came out with a gun.

Deputy Donn G. Witt
End of Watch: September 25, 1983
San Diego Sheriff's Department

Deputy Witt died from Hepatitis he contracted from a prisoner.

Deputy Kelly Ann Bazer
End of Watch: January 13, 1986
San Diego Sheriff's Department

Deputy Bazer was in the beginning of her training at the acedemy when shot and killed during a robbery attempt on her way home.

Deputy Lonny Gene Brewer
End of Watch: December 5, 1987
San Diego Sheriff's Department

Deputy Brewer was shot and killed by a suspect who was barricaded in his home after firing shots into his neighborhood. Deputy Brewer, who was a member of the SWAT team, was shot in the arm in-between the panels of his vest with an AK-47. The suspect was later shot and killed by SWAT team members.

Deputy Theodore L. Beckmann Jr.
End of Watch: February 8, 1989
San Diego Sheriff's Department

Deputy Beckmann was killed after his patrol car was struck during an accident.

Deputy Patrick Steven Coyle
End of Watch: February 16, 1997
San Diego Sheriff's Department

Deputy succumbed to injuries from a helicopter crash.

Deputy Ken Collier
End of Watch: February 28, 2010
San Diego Sheriff's Department

Deputy Ken Collier died from injuries sustained during a single vehicle accident pursuit of a wrong-way drunk driver. Deputy Collier had served with the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department for nine years. His most recent post was at the Santee Station. He had previously served with the San Diego County Marshal’s Office for three years. He is survived by his fiance, his brother and his sister.
